JOB PURPOSE
The Technology Architect is responsible for developing future technology and architectural approaches to support architectural strategy, technology migration, integration and evolution of the technical infrastructure. The incumbent focuses on the development of infrastructure technology principles, standards and guidelines appropriate to be leveraged across multiple solutions. The Architect will also serve as security expert advising on security matters related to infrastructure platforms, enabling compliance with enterprise security policies, industry regulations and best practices. The incumbent leads the development of the Government of Jamaica (GoJ) Technology Architecture, which forms a key part of the overall Enterprise Architecture (EA). The incumbent will also assist in designing the Technology Architecture for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) and enterprise applications to ensure adherence to EA and the GoJ strategic goals and objectives. The incumbent expands the ICT Authority’s use of EA to infrastructure and systems planning and implementation as a technical enabler.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Defines the vision and strategy for technology architecture.
- Defines technology architecture standards and methodologies.
- Develops and maintains technology governance policies, procedures and standards that maximize technology utilization and integration.
- Develops technology investment recommendations and communicates infrastructure roadmaps, including analysis of cost-effectiveness, rationalisation and cost reduction opportunities.
- Develops technology models and architecture documentation.
- Develops and maintains the Enterprise Technology Architecture domain, ensuring that there is alignment with achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals and the broader EA framework.
- Provides architectural consulting expertise and assistance to Analysts, Engineers and other Architects.
- Contributes to infrastructure capacity planning by defining architectural requirements and technology constraints that inform capacity decision.
- Monitors and evaluates emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommends technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration.
- Seven (7) years of information technology experience.
- Experience in the provision of technical design and development at least three major information systems including senior technical management experience in a similar or related capacity.
- Professional certifications related to technology architecture, such as TOGAF or Zachman, are highly desirable.
- Good understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall and their implications for technology architecture decisions.
- Solid understanding of project management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of government regulations and policies related to information technology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise infrastructure architecture, including cloud platforms, network architecture, virtualisation and hybrid environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and frameworks (eg NIST, ISO-27001) as they relate to technology infrastructure architecture.
- Experience developing technology architecture artefacts including reference architectures, technology standards, platform blueprints and architecture roadmaps, would be very beneficial

The salary is J$8.51 million per annum plus any current allowances attached to this position.
